What it is

IGF-1 LR3 (Long R3 IGF-1) is a recombinant analogue of human insulin-like growth factor 1. It has arginine in place of glutamate at position 3 and a 13-amino-acid extension at the N-terminus, 83 amino acids in all.

What the published research covers

The changes greatly reduce binding to the IGF-binding proteins, so more of it stays free in solution. It is widely used as a growth supplement in mammalian cell culture.

Regulatory status

Not approved by the FDA for any use. Supplied for laboratory research only.
